This should come to no surprise to viewers of Chelsea Lately when Chelsea Handler expressed how much she loves Netflix when Orange is the New Black star Jason Biggs appeared on the talk show recently, Handler has signed a deal with the Internet-video service which will premiere worldwide in early 2016.
Variety announced on Thursday that Handler will star on a new talk show with an “updated format” which will feature the comedienne’s take on entertainment and culture, in addition to guest interviews. (No word yet on how frequent the episodes will be released.) Under the same deal, Netflix will also feature a series of specials, the first will be Handler’s hour-long standup performance on October 20, which will be based on her sold-out “Uganda Be Kidding Me” book tour (it tapes tonight in Chicago).
Handler will also produce four docu-comedy specials that will be released on Netflix in 2015.
The final episode of E!’s Chelsea Lately will air on August 26, 2014.
