Energetic and loving Rozina Yaqub was the first houseguest to be evicted from the Big Brother Canada house on Thursday (March 8) night. We had a chance to catch up with the religious educator from Toronto following her eviction about the hardest part inside the house, what she would have done differently and her advice for ‘gate crashers’ Merron and Veronica.

It was so sad to see you go, there was so much love for you on social media. You were like Canada’s “auntie” in the Big Brother Canada house. It was very refreshing to see someone of your background and age.

I was actually very exciting for me. I never thought I’d do something like this. Not in a million years! I am so grateful and thankful that I got that opportunity and it was because of my family. I knew that I had their support. I wanted Canada to also see the kind of person that I am. I am who they saw. I wanted to empower similar women. You can’t compare this type of experience with anything.

What was the hardest part about being in the house for you? Was it not being able to eat what you wanted to eat?

Well, I’m a foodie! I’m a breakfast person. I need my food! Not being able to eat really got me down, emotionally. I knew I couldn’t tell that to everybody at the time, but that really got me down. I wanted to eat so badly.

At what point did you realize that they’d be sending you home?

I knew it when I lost the POV completion. This inchworm couldn’t move! [Laughs] That’s when I knew that I was gone!

It was sad to see but also very funny when you jokingly called out for paramedics. So, thank you for that moment.

[Laugh]

Looking back, is there anything that you would have done differently?

You know what, the only thing that I would have done differently was to be more physical at comps. I thought I was ready for it but being 49, I don’t think I was ready for it. I had just started exercising a year ago and then when I couldn’t walk outside because of the cold, I started exercising at home. Just being stronger physically would have helped. I also know that I have a big mouth, but I know I couldn’t control that in there. No way. But if I could control my big mouth, maybe I wouldn’t have cheered for Paras.

You heard from Arisa that there were two new houseguests entering the house last night. Had you had a moment with them, what advice would you have given them?

If I had a chance to talk to Merron and Veronica… I know they went in as “angels,” but I’d tell them to change to “devils.” It seems that they are going in to play a safe game but Big Brother is not a safe game. You have to make big bold moves in there. It’s no fun to play a safe and easy game. I’m hoping that these angels will have a special power to stir up the house!
