Sunny wins Project Runway Canada

Toronto’s Sunny Fong won Project Runway Canada last night. Sunny, along with the other two finalists, Jessica Biffi and Jason Meyers presented at Toronto’s LG Fashion Week on Thursday, March 19th. I had the opportunity to attend the finale and I’ve got to admit it was done very well.

The producers tried to conceal the finalists, Jessica, Sunny and Jason, by having decoy presenter sjoining them on stage: Adejoké Taiwo and Kim Cathers. If you watched the season’s designers and their designs closely, it was easy to figure out that Jessica, Sunny and Jason were the final three, however Adejoké’s family-dedicated speech did throw me off for a bit.

The runway was jam-packed of industry professionals and the media. This season’s guest stars Elisha Cuthbert and Coco Rocha were also present, as were PRC season one guests, including Evan Biddell, who won the first season. The rest of the season two crew were placed behind the judges, Iman, Brian Bailey, Rita Silvan and Shawn Hewson…Brandon appeared in his typical lumberjack garb. The judges seemed very friendly with Entertainment Tonight Canada’s Cheryl Hickey as they cheered her on when she modeled a special dress from each showcase.

Jessica got a really strong response when she came on stage, while Sunny was obviously the better designer, Jessica proved to really be a fan-favourite.

Sunny’s prize includes a business mentorship with Winners and $100,000 to start his own fashion line. Sunny and his model will also be appear on an ELLE Canada magazine cover and feature spread. The photo shoot will be done by L’Oreal.

The finale will re-air this Saturday at 9pm on Slice. Global will also have it online here.
