The Hung Premiere, Ashley Jones in True Blood and Joanna Garcia joins Gossip Girl

Due to my coverage of the MMVAs last week, there hasn’t been much time for some cooler talk. Luckily, the only must-see TV night this past week was last night with a new True Blood and the series premiere of HBO’s Hung.

So…what did y’all think of Hung? I liked it. I wish the pilot had a little more of Anne Heche in it. Thomas Jane is really good in it…he makes you understand and feel for his character, Ray Drecker. I found that I haven’t really been able to sympathize with a TV character in a real long time. He’s sorta the anti-Hank Moody (Californication).

Unfortunately, with it being the big Fourth of July weekend in the States, we won’t be getting any new episodes of Hung or True Blood until July 12th. That’s also the night when Entourage returns for its sixth season. HBO will have a solid 2-hour lineup.

As for True Blood, I finally caught up on the episode I missed from last week where Days of our LivesMolly Burnett played the Church rock star Amanda. I was impressed with her since I cannot stand her as Melanie on DAYS (the few times I’ve tuned in this past year).

Another soap star doing well on the show is Ashley Jones who plays the new waitress, Daphne. The Bold and the Beautiful has pretty much wasted Jones as Bridget for the last five years (she married old man Nick how many times?). She had the crazy scratch on her back…could she be that wild thing that attacked Sookie?

Former Privileged star Joanna Garcia has landed a four-episode deal on Gossip Girl next season as Nate’s new girlfriend. She’ll be playing Bree Buckley, who’ll be from the conservative south…wonder how well Vanessa will handle that. Garcia’s first episode will be on the season premiere (airing Sep. 14th). The third season of Gossip Girl starts shooting today. Word has it that they’ll be taping scenes all around Gramercy Park (including the Gramercy Park Hotel). Check back in the coming weeks for my very own New York TV Tour!
