The News

The Young and the Restless has recast the role of Heather with Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca, AMC). Riegel begins taping this week and takes over from Vail Bloom, who joined the soap in 2007. Bloom’s publicist told Soap Opera Digest that “Vail left the show on her own” and was not “fired or “let go.” Sure, okay – whatever. Riegel reunites with her former AMC love interest Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe).

And now for the craziest recast…the show will be aging Abby drastically (like by 10 years!). Former Guiding Light starlet Marcy Rylan (ex-Lizzie) will takeover the role of Victor/Brad & Ashley’s daughter from Hayley Erin in May. This move reunites Rylan with her former GL co-star John Dr
iscoll
(Chance).

One Life to Live fans are fuming over the firing of Scott Evans (Oliver; “Fish”) and Brett Claywell (Kyle). The supercouple, known as Kish, will be written off the show next month. The show ironically won a GLAAD Media Award this past weekend for Outstanding Daily Drama Series…So much for being progressive, right? The show claims that they’ll keep Evans’ Fish around for cop purposes only.

OLTL has also let Scott Clifton (Schuyler) go. The actor previously appeared on General Hospital as Dillon and is hopeful they’ll ask him to come back.

— Here are a couple of pictures from Julianne Moore’s return to As the World Turns as Frannie Hughes (courtesy of Soap Opera Digest and TV Guide Magazine). She’ll first air on April 3.
