Conan to air on CTV, some changes ahead The Hour, MuchMusic continues to drop the ‘Music’ and more

Michael Bay is set to produce the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The reboot is expected to be a live action flick just like the film series from early 1990s.

— When The Hour returns for its new season on Sep. 20th, viewers can expect some changes. George Stroumboulopoulos revealed to the National Post that the program will have more of a “late-night talk show” feel to it.

— Meanwhile, it looks like CTV will be bringing Conan O’Brien back to Canada! We’re still not sure when CTV will air the show as the main network also airs The Daily Show and The Colbert Report while ‘A’ carries The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. CTV announces its full fall schedule on June 3rd. This is great news as Conan’s new talk show is set to air in the States on TBS and Canada lost its TBS station a couple of years ago when the Atlanta affiliate became Peachtree TV. This makes watching the new late night show easy for us Canadians, instead of downloading the show illegally (ahem, Chelsea Lately), we can actually watch it ON TV! What a great concept!

— Leave it to MTV to force Sandra Bullock out from hiding – the actress is set to accept the Generation Award next Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards.

— MuchMusic has asked the CRTC to cut down their music video requirement from 50% down to 25%. They’re claiming that most videos can be found on something called the internet and that not that many music videos are actually being made these days. Quelle surprise…all the cool kids are watching AUX TV for new music now anyway.

— OK, so I know we all give Much a hard time, but at least they’ve picked up some fresh buzzworthy American shows and will actually simulcast them to defeat downloading. They’ve picked up Pretty Little Liars (book series turned TV series) from the ABC Family network and The Hard Times of RJ Berger from MTV (it’s pretty much of Hung for teens). Hard Times premieres on Monday, June 7th at 10pm (although MTV USA will air a sneak peak following the MTV Movie Awards a night earlier) and Pretty Little Liars will air Tuesdays at 10pm.
