Brenda-bots beware! The original head bitch in charge of Port Charles is making her way back! Vanessa Marcil will be returning to General Hospital on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 as Brenda Barrett.
Marcil first joined the series in 1992 until 1998 when she joined Beverly Hills 90210 as Gina Kincaid, a role created for her by Aaron Spelling. Marcil left the original 90210 in February 2000 (a few months before the series finale). Brenda returned to GH for a quick stint from 2002-2003, earning her a Daytime Emmy Award. Marcil moved on to NBC’s Las Vegas as Sam Marquez for the series’ 2003-2008 run. Last year, the actress hosted Lifetime’s Blush: The Search for the Next Great Makeup Artist, which aired on Star TV in Canada.
According to USA Today, when Brenda returns to Port Charles this summer, she’s coming back with a secret! What could this secret be? Could Brenda have been pregnant with Jax’s baby (Ingo Rademacher) when she skipped town after he left her at the altar? Whatever her secret is, I’m sure her return won’t go over so well with Carly (Laura Wright) or Skye (Robin Christopher). Could Brenda reunite with the currently-single Sonny (Maurice Benard)? I hope not…I’m looking forward to Brenda’s reunion with her best friend Robin (Kimberly McCullough). What does this mean for the Brenda-stand-in Sam (Kelly Monaco)? Could they go ahead with a Brenda/Jason (Steve Burton) pairing? Either way, looks like Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) will have to move out of her pink room! Back to her secret, Marcil was originally interested in returning during James Franco’s first appearance last November, could Franco and Brenda be connected?
Not word yet how long the actress is expected to return, but hopefully it’ll be for good!
