MTV’s new TRL, Dallas gets an update, Kings of Leon release “Radioactive” and more

Hellcats premieres tonight on The CW (and ‘A’) but I’m still not sure if I’ll check it out. I’ve had the screener on me for awhile but decided to watch some other stuff instead. I’m all for hot girls in cheerleader uniforms, but why waste an hour tonight when I can check out Maggie Q kick ass in a bikini tomorrow night in the Nikita reboot instead? Big Brother airs its eviction episode a night early this week. Tomorrow will be a big night, another episode of Big Brother, plus the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries and the 2-hour season finale of Rookie Blue. Still have to figure out what to watch live, TiVo and timeshift.

— TNT has picked up the pilot for the new Dallas update, which will focus on the children of bitter rivals/brother JR and Bobby Ewing, who’ll “clash over the future of the Ewing dynasty while the fate of Southfork itself weighs in the balance.”

— Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) will guest star on Chuck’s Halloween episode. According to Entertainment Weekly he’ll play Dr. Stanley Wheelwright, an evil scientist who’ll terrorize Chuck.

Katee Sackhoff is expected to join CSI this season in a recurring role, which begins in November.

— MTV is set to premiere a new Total Request Live-type of show on September 27th. The Seven will be broadcast from the Times Square studios and air weekdays at 5 p.m. Hosted by Kevin Manno (a DJ from Chicago) and Julie Alexandria (Mets Weekly), the series will countdown the top seven pop culture news stories of the day and will also feature music performances and interviews. No word yet if it’ll air on Canada, although CTV did pick up Total Request Live for MTV2 during the shows final months on air. MuchMusic is also set to revamp its flagship series, MuchOnDemand in October.

Kings of Leon have released the video for their new single, “Radioactive.” The new album, Come Around Sundown is in stores on October 19th.
