Michael Muhney on playing the snarky bad guy on both ‘Veronica Mars’ and ‘Y&R’

While fans of Arrested Development may finally get their movie, fans of Veronica Mars probably won’t be so lucky. Michael Muhney, who played Sheriff Don Lamb on the UPN/The CW series and now plays Adam Newman on the hit soap, The Young and the Restless was in Toronto for a fan appearance joked that if there will be a reunion movie, it’ll probably be called “Veronica GrandMARS,” since she’ll be really old. While the bulk of the interview focused on Y&R, I couldn’t pass up the chance to talk to Muhney about Veronica Mars — here are a few tidbits:

– He was sort of happy in a way that his character was killed off before the finale. The cast and crew seemed to know that the show was cancelled, so it was sort of a treat for him to get his very own sendoff and got to do press for it.
– Was referred to online as “Officer F—face” after the pilot and for the remainder of the first season. It was during the second season that viewers started to enjoy Don Lamb’s snark and he became a favourite and there was outcry after his character was killed off.
– He sees a similar journey with playing Adam Newman on Y&R. He’s initially the bad guy but gets to have some snark.

Check back on Thursday for my full length interview with Michael Muhney as we discuss his controversial storylines, if Adam and Sharon will reunite and if there are any plans to lure back unhappy viewers.
