Ask Jeeves: Castle, Laguna Beach, Saved by the Bell and more!

I really liked your imaginary The Hills reunion last week and it got me thinking, whatever happened to Stephen Colletti? – Ashleigh
Thanks Ashleigh. Laguna Beach alum Stephen Colletti had been recurring on One Tree Hill from 2007 until last February, when he became a series regular.

Can you please tell me why One Tree Hill has been on the air for nine seasons? – Nat
The best bet would probably be that The CW hasn’t really had that many breakout hits in the past few years and the show still performs relatively well in the 18-34 demographic compared to some of the other shows that came and failed (The Beautiful Life, Hellcats). I assure you, this season will be it’s last.

Will Hellcats be returning? – Don
Sorry Don, The CW cancelled the cheerleading series last year.

What’s Jason Alexander up to these days? – Alejandro
The Seinfeld star recently guest starred on Franklin & Bash and Harry’s Law. He’s also doing some voiceover work including China, Il., a series on Adult Swim and The Voyages of Young Doctor Dolittle.

What ended up happening with the Saved by the Bell reunion that Jimmy Fallon was trying to organize? – Kenza
While Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dennis Haskins, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies agreed to Fallon’s reunion, Tiffany Thiessen declined. There seems to be some bad blood between the cast and Dustin Diamond. In fact, Dimaond wasn’t invited to participate in the 2009 People magazine photo shoot. The main reason seems to stem from the tell-all book he published, Behind the Bell. The only former co-star who still speaks to Diamond at the moment is Haskins.

Why did ABC cancel Pushing Daisies? – Sandrine
Pushing Daisies seems to be a victim of the infamous 2007-2008 Writers Guild strike. Although the ABC series received a full season order in October 2007, only nine scripts were completed before the start of the strike. The writers decided to wrap up the first season following the ninth episode and to focus on the second season, however the ratings weren’t there and ABC officially cancelled the series in November 2008.

Why was Stargate Universe cancelled? – Jean-Philippe
Unfortunately the ratings on Syfy weren’t there for the American network to renew the series for a third season.

On Castle, will Beckett and Castle ever finally get together? – Keith
Come on now, they held hands last week! Looks like the writers will continue to torture you Castle & Beckett ‘shippers a while longer, especially in the Feb. 6 episode where they pair investigate a mysterious homicide from 1947. A series of flashbacks will feature Castle as a private detective and Beckett as a femme fatale. E! is having a TV’s Top Couples tournament and you can cast your vote for Castle and Beckett here. I’ve also got some pictures from the upcoming episode.
