Jimmy Fallon’s new TV project, DAYS actress quits, a look at tonight’s Gossip Girl and more

Today's TV items include casting details on Jimmy Fallon's new TV project, DAYS star quits show and a look at tonight's episode of Gossip Girl.

— Former Popular and Less Than Perfect star Sara Rue has signed on to Jimmy Fallon’s new comedy pilot for NBC. Guys with Kids focuses on three immature fathers played by Jesse Bradford, Zach Cregger and Anthony Anderson. Rue will appear as the ex-wife of Jesse Bradford’s character. Tempest Bledsoe and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Rue, who is currently appearing on Rules of Engagement, has this pilot in second position in case her ABC pilot, Malibu Country (which will co-star Reba McEntire) isn’t picked up. Bonus points if you remember Rue as Scott Foley’s wheelchair-bound sister on Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane.

Ryan Seacrest is expected to make a big announcement tomorrow morning on the Today show…Which will be co-hosted by Sarah Palin, so yeah, ugh.

— A teaser of True Blood season five has dropped.

— Here’s a big soap shocker, Days of our Lives star Renee Jones (Lexie) has quit. Sucks…I was hoping the headaches would cause Lexie to revert back to “Dark Lexie” from the Zack/JT baby switch.

— France wants their very own Jersey Shore. Quoi?!

— We don’t even know what to say about the Community feud between Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon. Please let it be a publicity ploy, please.

New Girl’s fancy man, Dermot Mulroney, has booked a recurring role on the next season of HBO’s Enlightened.

Tyler Perry wants to make Bobbi Kristina Brown a TV star.

— YouTube’s Nerdist channel has finally launched, check it out here.

— My picks for tonight:

On Gossip Girl (8 p.m. on The CW and MuchMusic): Chuck invites Uncle Jack (Desmond Harrington) back to town to thank him for saving his life. Blair and Dan attempt to consummate their relationship. Ivy finds an unlikely ally in William (Billy Baldwin) in her quest to be accepted on the Upper East Side. Nate (Chase Crawford) is hopeful a new investor will save his newspaper. About Nate, what was the whole point of Liz Hurley earlier this season?

Anyway, here are some official stills for tonight’s episode. Sorry for the lack of Dair pics, The CW’s shThe CW’s PR team should have included some Dair pics!

Also, the seasons of Shameless and House of Lies come to a close on The Movie Network / Movie Central. Over in late night, Josh Lucas visits Strombo, Betty White is on Letterman, Seann William Scott is on Kimmel, Jennifer Love Hewitt is on Fallon and Neil Patrick Harris drops by Conan.
