Community’s 90-minute season finale, Avatar comes to TV this weekend and more

News on Community's 90-minute season finale, Avatar's Canadian broadcast premiere and a look at tonight's shows.

— In what seems to be a vote of confidence from NBC, the network has scheduled a 90-minute season finale for the show on May 17 (the last Thursday of sweeps). Community will air at its usual 8 p.m. slot, while the season finale of 30 Rock will follow. Two new episodes (including the season finale) of Community will then air at 9 p.m.

— Fox will air a celebrity dating show. Seriously, though…what took them this long?

— Netflix is considering reviving Jericho. Yeah, that’s great and all, but will they air it in Canada?

— Here’s the season 5 True Blood poster. Don’t cry.

Adrian Pasdar is joining USA Network’s Political Animals. The series is from Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters, Everwood) and Laurence Mark (Jerry Maguire) and is a political drama about the matriarch of a former first family who have to fight off political adversaries. It’ll also star Sigourney Weaver (as the aforementioned matriarch), James Wolk (Lone Star, Shameless, Happy Endings), Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl), Ellen Burstyn and Carla Gugino (Entourage). Pasdar will play the President. The six-part series has yet to find a Canadian broadcaster, but will premiere in the U.S. on July 15th at 10 p.m.

Jerry Seinfeld’s teaming up with Larry David, Ricky Gervais and Alec Baldwin for next project, which also involves cars. There isn’t much more information about it, but hopefully I’ll get some more clues when I check out his standup show this weekend.

— On tonight’s Community (8 p.m. on NBC and Citytv): The study group deals with Star-Burns’ death.

— On tonight’s 30 Rock (8:30 p.m. on NBC and Citytv): The Queen of Jordan is back! The launch of Angie’s (Sherri Shepherd) new clothing line brings her and her reality show back to TGS while Jack confronts his feelings for Avery’s mother (Mary Steenburgen).

— On tonight’s The Office (8:30 p.m. on Global, 9 p.m. on NBC): Andy begins his Dunder Mifflin comeback while Jim and Dwight join forces to outsmart a rival salesman.

— On tonight’s Parks & Recreation (9:30 p.m. on NBC): Leslie goes on a bus tour for the final day of her campaign while Andy deals out a security threat. Paul Rudd guest stars.
