— Ever wonder why former Beverly Hills 90210 star Ian Ziering thought Sharknado was a good idea? He never did, in fact he wanted to back out when the producers changed the name of the TV movie from “Dark Skies” to the now infamous title. He explains in a new interview that the only reason why he stuck around was for insurance.
The Canadian version of the sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One, will feature (a fictional version of course) Toronto Mayor Rob Ford holding a press conference in New York, announcing that Toronto will offer disaster relief to New York City. Check out the clip below.
The sequel to last summer’s surprise Twitter hit will air this Wednesday, July 30 at 9 p.m. ET on Space (and Syfy in the United States).
— Wonder why Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Cole Ortiz wasn’t invited to 24: Live Another Day? The actor told ABC News at Comic Con that working with Kiefer Sutherland was a challenge. “Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash; I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that,” says Mr. Sarah Michelle Gellar.
He also admits to having to take his shoes off to act opposite the much shorter Sutherland.
Kiefer’s rep told Entertainment Tonight that the actor enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.
— The CRTC has approved Bell Media’s sale of Family Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD to DHX Media. DHX produces a number of shows including Degrassi.
— David Duchovny has defended his decision to star in a Russian beer commercial.
— Classic Batman villain Ra’s al Ghul will be the big bad on Arrow this upcoming season.
— Lea Michele will guest star on Sons of Anarchy as a waitress.
— Mayim Bialik will be the new host of Candid Camera.
— USA has picked up Colony, from Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal about an alien invasion.
— Covert Affairs actress Piper Perabo got married to director and producer Stephen Kay over the weekend. Kay previously appeared on General Hospital as Quartermaine butler Reginald in the ‘90s.
— CBS is moving Extant to the 10 p.m. timeslot on Wednesdays, hoping that a Criminal Minds rerun will lead to high ratings. It previously aired at 9 p.m., followed by the latest season of Big Brother, but don’t worry about your summer guilty pleasure, it’s doing well for CBS.
— Global will also move Extant to 10 p.m. on Wednesday in order to keep with the CBS simulcast. This means that Rookie Blue will now air an hour earlier, at 9 p.m. this week and next (the show will wrap its 11-episode summer run next week).
