— After a summer of anticipation, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed today that former The Young and the Restless star Billy Miller will be joining GH as a recast Jason Morgan, the role previously played by current Y&R star Steve Burton.
Burton originally played the role of the brain-damaged Quartermaine heir from 1991 until 2000. He would later appear in 2001 before returning full time in 2002 until 2012.
Miller exited Y&R as Billy Abbott earlier this year after joining the soap in 2008 and has won three Emmys. Miller is also known for his roles as All My Children’s Richie Novak (from 2007-2008) and on Ringer in 2011.
No word yet on Miller’s first airdate as GH’s new Jason. In addition to his tweet, Valentini did release a statement about Miller joining the ABC soap, “O am really excited to be working with such a talented and acclaimed actor as Billy. Our cast is thrilled that he will be joining out General Hospital family, and I know that he will be an amazing addition to our talented cast.”
— Robin Mattson will return to GH soon – but she won’t be the only one.
— Antonio Sabato Jr. (ex-Jagger, GH; ex-Dante, The Bold and the Beautiful) could be headed to Dancing with the Stars.
— While Y&R cast Justin Hartley as their new Adam, it’s now come out that producers set feelers out for some other name actors: Smallville’s Tom Welling, Sex and the City’s Jason Lewis, Queer as Folk’s Gale Harold and As the World Turns/Orphan Black’s Dylan Bruce!
— Following Daytime Confidential’s blind item last week that a “Ginger East Coast Soap Alum” was headed to a new soap out west, it was revealed that former One Life to Live star Melissa Archer has begun taking at Days of our Lives. TV Line reports that the actress will play Serena and has ties to someone in Salem. Look for Archer to make her DAYS debut on Friday, December 5th.
— Alison Sweeney returned to Days of our Lives to direct. Sweeney finished taping as Sami this past May and will last air this fall.
— Big Brother favourite Donny Thompson and his fans got some great news after his eviction from the reality series last week when host Julie Chen announced that was he invited to appear as The Bold and the Beautiful! No word yet when he gets to tape his B&B appearance as he’s been sequestered in the Big Brother jury house. The season finale of Big Brother has been set for Wednesday, September 24.
— TV Guide is reporting that comedian Fred Willard will guest star on B&B as John Forrester, Eric’s (John McCook) younger brother.
