Showcase picks up 12 Monkeys, Netflix’s Marco Polo trailer and more

— Shaw Media has picked up the 12 Monkeys television series, which began production in Toronto this past summer. Based on Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film (which starred Bruce Willis), the 13-episode series will premiere in early 2015 on Showcase.

The thriller stars Aaron Standford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand), Amanda Schull (Suits, Pretty Little Liars), Kirk Acevedo (The Black Donnellys, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Noah Bean (Nikita, Damages). Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the series will air on Syfy in the United States where it will premiere on Friday, January 16, 2015 (Showcase has yet to announce a premiere date).
