Final preparations are currently underway in Niagara Falls for ET Canada’s sixth annual New Year’s Eve at Niagara Falls.  The two and a half hour special, kicking off at 10 p.m. Wednesday night, will be hosted by Hickey, Rick Campanelli and Sangita Patel. Joining them will be country superstar Keith Urban, former Jonas Brother turned solo artist/actor Nick Jonas and homegrown talent Nickelback, Shawn Mendes and Lights.

In addition to the countdown and performance, a fan-voted “Star of the Year,” will be announced during the broadcast. You’ve still got time to head over to etcanada.com/battle to cast your vote.

We were able to catch up with Sangita and Rick before their big night to find out about their year and what they’re most looking forward to the big night!

What are your favourite New Year’s Eve memories or traditions?
Sangita Patel:
Spending time with my family… Watching ET Canada’s countdown into the new year!

If you weren’t hosting ET Canada’s New Year’s Eve special, how would you be spending the night? Dressed up at a party or in your comfortable clothes, hanging out at home?
Sangita:
In my pajamas, snacks, cozy blanket… See if the kids can stay up!

Which performance are you most looking forward to this year?
Sangita:
Wow, what a line up [this year]! [They all] bring their own vibes… but I’m a bit biased. Having met both Shawn Mendes and Nick Jonas, I love them both!

What was your favourite interview or news story that you covered in 2014?
Sangita:
The Transformers: Age of Extinction premiere in Hong Kong and the Backstreet Boys sit-down interview. Loved them. My year at ET Canada was incredible. I met some amazing people in the biz!

Rick Campanelli:
My favourite New Year’s Eve memory is getting together with my buddies in Montreal. But, I’ve worked so many NYE shows that I haven’t done that in years!

If you weren’t hosting ET Canada’s New Year’s Eve special, how would you be spending the night? Dressed up at a party or in your comfortable clothes, hanging out at home
Rick:
I’ve had my share of the “dressing up and going out” NYE nights… If I wasn’t hosting ET Canada’s live NYE show, I would be home with my family. We’d order Chinese food and watch movies.

Which performance are you most looking forward to this year?
Rick:
I think Lights is a brilliant talent and I can’t wait for her performance. And of course, Keith urban is going to wow the crowd that night.

What was your favourite interview or news story that you covered in 2014?
Rick:
My favourite interview is getting to sit down with the Foo Fighters in their recording studio in LA. There have been some shocking stories this year, but covering the Sony Hacking scandal was the most interesting to me.
