Homeland returns for its fifth season tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime in the United States and Super Channel in Canada.

All 12 episodes of the fifth were filmed in Berlin, Germany, where Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison now lives — following her self-imposed exile from the U.S. and the CIA. Two years after the events of season four, Carrie is now working for a German philanthropist, Otto During (played by Sebastian Koch) and lives in Berlin with her daughter Frannie, along with her lawyer boyfriend Jonas (Alexander Fehling), who is also working for During.

Saul (Mandy Patinkin) is back with the CIA and heads to Berlin in the premiere and has a tense reunion with Carrie. Quinn (Rupert Friend) also reaches Berlin early in season five, following his two-year mission in Syria. Miranda Otto is on board this season as Allison Carr, the current Berlin Chief of station, who is working under Saul. Nina Hoss is also back as Astrid — Quinn’s ex who also works for the German embassy.

Real-world subjects dealt with in the first batch of season five include ISIS, Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Edward Snowden.

As for this season’s big bad… Could be ISIS or even F. Murray Abraham’s Dar Adal, who is now on board as a main cast member.

Season five of Homeland airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Super Channel (SC1) and will be made available on Super Channel On Demand the following day.
