Paramount Pictures released the new trailer for Star Trek Beyond on Monday (Dec. 14) morning, set to the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” which was also heard in the 2009 film that rebooted the popular film series.
The film is directed by Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious), replacing J.J. Abrams (who still serves as a producer) and is written by Simon Pegg (also back as Scotty), Doug Jung and the returning Roberto Orci (who will also be helming the new television series).
In addition to Pegg, returning for their third Star Trek film are Chris Pine (James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Commander Spock), Zoe Saldana (Lieutenant Uhura), Anton Yeltchin (Ensign Chekov) and John Cho (Lieutenant Sulu).
The trailer introduces us to a new female character played by Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as well as the new villain played by Idris Elba.
This is the thirteenth film in the franchise created by Gene Roddenberry and will be released in theatres on July 22, 2016.
