@ THE MOVIES: Midnight Special

midnight special movie review

Cast: Jaeden Lieberher, Michael Shannon, Joel Egerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver and Sam Shepard

Director: Jeff Nichols

Release: March 18

Critical Acclaim: Competed for the Golden Bear at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival

The Deal: A young boy (Lieberher) and his father (Shannon) go on the run and are being chased down by both the FBI and members of the religious cult from where the boy was held.

Intriguing sci-fi flick with great acting from the adults (Shannon/Dunst) as well as the kid. Driver sort of “redeems” himself for what his character “did” in December’s Star Wars sequel.

Rating: 4/5
