EMPIRE (Wednesday at 9pm on Fox; streaming on shomi)
As previously mentioned, City has given up Canadian rights to shomi, where new episodes will be made available to stream within 24 hours after it’s broadcast on Wednesday nights on Fox.
Empire has proven to be a solid hit for the streaming service, as it finds itself among the Top 10 Most Watched series for the month of March according to a recent release. Canadian fans seem eager for the show’s return, as 69% of those who started watching the second season on the streaming service completed all 10 episodes within three weeks. 77% of viewers who watched the first two episodes of the first season would later go on to complete its entire season.
While Empire failed to find an audience on City (due to lack of promotion, scheduling), I’d say that 1.2 million on shomi is pretty impressive.
In this week’s episode, Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Andre (Trai Byers) come to terms following her fall. Lucious (Terrence Howard) announces he will stop at nothing to regain his power, but Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) has her own way of handling things.
THE PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON: AMERICAN CRIME STORY (Tuesday at 10pm on FX Canada)
Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance) and F. Lee Bailey (Nathan Lane) head across the country to get their hands on the Mark Fuhrman (Steve Pasquale) tapes. Judge Ito (Kenneth Choi) must later decide whether those tapes are admissible.
BIG BROTHER CANADA (Thursday at 9pm on Global)
We’ve got a second 90-minute eviction episode this week and look for the eviction to stick (unlike last week). We saw Tim poll the house for this week’s nominations with Dallas and Ramsey going up on the block. Look for the veto to finally be used on the Wednesday episode, forcing a new nominee to go up in time for Thursday’s eviction.
2 BROKE GIRLS (Thursday at 9:30pm on City and CBS)
The Hollywood adventure continues as Caroline (Beth Behrs) rents a party bus in an attempt to cheer Max (Kat Dennings) up after Randy (Ed Quinn) breaks up with her via his therapist (John Michael Higgins).
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (Saturday at 11:30pm on Global and NBC)
Game of Throne’s Peter Dinklage hosts with musical guest Gwen Stefani.
