Big Brother Canada’s fourth season came to an end on Thursday, May 12 with brothers Nick and Philippe Paquette from Ottawa winning over Kelsey Faith. During the press day on Friday, I got to chat with Nikki Grahame and Mitch Moffit about which brother should have won merely for unclogging the toilet, the differences for Nikki between the UK game and the Canadian version and more!

I’m so glad they paired you two together…
Nikki: Mitch is my favourite.

More so than Tim?
Nikki: Tim’s my favourite in different ways.

Your reactions were amazing. There’s even a scene where we are all sad watching as Ramsey is saying he’s leaving to be with his family and you just let out a wail and say “No!!!!!” We went from tears to laughter within seconds.
Nikki: Oh no!

You made a very sad situation tolerable.
Mitch: In a good way!
Nikki: But I was so upset.

Your reactions are why you’ve been this big star in the UK and now here.
Mitch: They are so real.
Nikki: Thank you!

Was there any chance you could have voted for Kelsey to win?
Mitch: I really wanted Tim to win out of the three of them by a million miles. I was really bummed when he walked through. In that moment, I was a split. “These questions will define who I vote for.” I was leaning more towards Kelsey but I felt that her answer to my question was the opposite of what it should have been.
Nikki: Terrible answers.
Mitch: And then the fact that the brothers have won so many challenges… You know what, I think they deserve it right now.
Nikki: And they shaved their hair off.
Mitch: [Laughs]
Nikki: I wouldn’t shave my hair off to win a prize. No chance.

Well, Jared wouldn’t have either.
Nikki: How funny is that? But he did get a compliment from the audience last night. So it was worth it.
Mitch: So it was worth the $100,000…
Nikki: Yup.
Mitch: If he had gone to the end, I would have voted for him.
Nikki: For sure!

Which brother deserves more money than the other?
Mitch: Nick, I think.
Nikki: Yeah.
Mitch: It’s interesting because I think Phil would always shut Nick up… So maybe we don’t really know the true Nick because he barely spoke?
Nikki: Definitely. Also, Nick was much better at the challenges. Phil just took charge.
Mitch: I think Nick is a little more level headed and reasonable. Maybe because he loved it so much, he took it more seriously? His love for Big Brother might have hindered him as a player. Whereas Nick was more free because he didn’t know as much.

Mitch, your last day in that house… Why couldn’t you play that way from the start!?
Mitch: The first half of the game, you really have to lay low. I think that’s why Loveita went home early — it’s because she played so hard so fast. I knew I wanted to play the game, but I was playing it behind the scenes with everyone. I didn’t want to have to blow up until it was necessary, right? My game was to lay low and then pull the strings. Then I was backed up into a corner where I was like “Okay, show it all now.” Now or never!

Like calling Raul, Jared and Kelsey a cancer. That was very memorable.
Nikki: It will be remembered for years to come, I think.
Mitch: [Laughs]

Big Brother UK and Big Brother Canada are very different.
Nikki: The biggest difference for me was that the audience votes for their winner in the UK. Whereas here, the housemates vote to evict and who they want to win the series. Which is huge. I’m what you see is what you get, as you’ve witnessed. I’ve got no problem telling someone that I can’t stand them or that I can’t bare to be around them… Which isn’t the best move in this game! So, I really didn’t have a leg to stand on! If I love you, I truly adore you and I would do everything I ever could for you. But if I don’t like you, I’ll avoid you at all costs!

Nikki, you gave us some funny nicknames for Raul (Hyena) and Maddy (The Poisonous One) after your eviction. Any new nicknames to share?
Nikki: Not really! But we did have the Prom King and Queen for Jared and Kelsey. The brothers…
Mitch: [Laughs] You had a name for them!
Nikki: I just called them The Idiots! Dumb and dumber. But I’m happy that they won. They represent the season. When I look back at Big Brother Canada, I will remember them, Mitch, Dallas, Joel and Tim. For me, any of them would have been worthy winners.

Are there any British goods you wish they had in the house for you?
Nikki: Oh, I missed Marmite! I missed baked beans. Do you have them here?

We have them here but it could have been potent for some of the houseguests…
Mitch: Yeah!

Like Tim’s farting.
Mitch: And Raul’s!
Nikki: It was that veggie meat that they ate. I requested veggie meat on the shopping budget and the boys kept eating it and their farts were just disgusting! Then they’d be lining up to use the toilet.

How hard was it with only two toilets?
Nikki: Oh, it was awful and it kept getting blocked! I think Nick definitely earned his place as winner.
Mitch: He unblocked the toilet all the time.
Nikki: Yes, it was his job to unblock the toilet. So yes, I definitely think he deserves the $100,000 because I wouldn’t do it!

What was your favourite moment?
Mitch: Walking in the door!
Nikki: Oh, the puppies and the kangaroo!

Worst moment?
Nikki: Kelsey coming back.
Mitch: Oh, gosh — obviously just getting voted out.

Who was the most annoying?
Nikki: Maddy.
Mitch: Kelsey.

Most attractive?
Nikki: My boy, this one!!! [Mitch]
Mitch: I don’t know!

Who was the funniest?
Nikki: Probably Tim.
Mitch: Nikki.
Nikki: Oooh, thank you!

Best cook?
Mitch: Raul.
Nikki: Oh yeah, by far. He’s gourmet.
Messiest?
Mitch: Cassandra.
Nikki: Kelsey.

Who should have won?
Mitch: Tim.
Nikki: Joel.
