nikolas recast gh 2016

—  Daytime Confidential broke on Wednesday (May 25) that Tyler Christopher has been temporarily replaced as General Hospital’s Nikolas Cassadine by Nick Stabile. According to DC, Christopher is going through contract negations and has requested time off for personal reasons.

Stabile is no stranger to daytime — he’s appeared on Sunset Beach, Passions and Days of our Lives. No word yet on when the Nik switch will occur or for how long, according to an ABC spokesperson in a TV Line article.

The role of Laura’s (Genie Francis) son was originated by Tyler Christopher in 1996. Stephen Martines took over the role when Christopher departed in 1999 and stayed on until his return in 2003. Chris Beetam (As the World Turns) appeared as a temporary recast in December 2005 for five episodes when Christopher underwent arm surgery. Christopher left the ABC soap in 2011 and returned in 2013.
