— A casting announcement that comes as no surprise to soap fans, Steve Burton announced on Thursday (October 6) that he would be leaving his role as Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless when his contract expires this December.

With the exits of executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and head writer Chuck Pratt, it was only a matter of time. Burton’s character failed to catch on with fans during his four-year stint. Dylan went from carpenter, to barista to detective in Genoa City and even ended up being the retconned long lost son of Melody Thomas Scott’s Nikki and Doug Davidson’s Paul.

Prior to joining Y&R, Burton appeared as General Hospital’s Jason Morgan from 1991 until 2012.
