Incorporated is a new series that’s set in a dystopian 2074 where the governments of many countries have gone bankrupt due to a number of crises and climate change. Without the governments, powerful multinational corporations now lead the countries. The series comes from executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and is filmed in Toronto.

British actor Sean Teale (Reign) stars as a young executive who conceals his true identity in order to infiltrate a dangerous corporate world to save the woman that he loves.
I caught up with Sean in Toronto to discuss the new series which his set to premiere this Wednesday (Nov. 30) on Showcase and Syfy.

The show is set in the year 2074, which isn’t that far away.
It isn’t… Some of us will really see it.

Hopefully.
By that time there will be medical advancements and we’ll be living to an age we shouldn’t be.

But do we really want to see that? The future predicted on this show is pretty grim. Especially with climate change and all.
Absolutely. I feel like that’s what’s slightly terrifying on the show is that humans have a tendency to change their ways en masse. It’s slightly too late. I think we need the repercussions to be in our face. The globe is so big that we think that our input or effort won’t mater. The problem is that we come together too late.

Will we see what went wrong in the world on the show?
It’s a really big world that they’re trying to depict. There are some great characters a lot of secrets. The showrunners are very subtle and you’ll get enough of information to understand this world that they are in. There will be enough details peppered throughout, like how Anchorage is this holiday destination or how champagne comes from Norway now. We’ll touch more on what happened to the world and what happened to various governments.

What’s going on in Canada?
Canada is a global destination! But I think people are already aware of this. It’s a very big country with a lot of “Green Zone” [which you’ll learn about on the show]. There are a lot of natural resources here, there’s a stable government with a great Prime Minister and the currency is relatively strong. I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t consider this place a popular destination. On the show, it’ll become so popular that when the southern states in the U.S. erode and fall into the sea, Americans will try to head north to survive but Canada builds a wall to keep those Americans out!

Incorporated airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on ET/PT on Showcase in Canada and on Syfy in the U.S.
