Rogers Media announced on June 4 that they were going to upgrade their digital offerings for this upcoming television season. Reflecting the way audiences want their TV immediately, Citytv and FX NOW will offer immediate episodes of current episodes as well as past seasons.
“Marrying the immersive experience of premium and prime-time television with the immediacy of on-demand, the Citytv NOW and FX NOW streaming services are a natural extension of the viewer’s experience,” said Colette Watson, Senior Vice President of Television & Broadcast Operations at Rogers Media. “With immediate post-broadcast catch-up and binge-anytime content from current and past seasons, this is also an exciting opportunity for our sales partners to align their brands with the shows that audiences are actively seeking out, and a great way for television service providers to enrich their offerings for subscribers.”
Citytv NOW will be the update to the Citytv app and will launch this September. New episodes will be made available immediately for all current prime-time series. Viewers will also be back to go back and watch full series libraries of current comedies and dramas airing on City. Citytv NOW will also premiere new original series ahead of their linear debut (like how the CBC app streamed Little Dog and Crawford before they aired on CBC TV).
FX NOW will also receive an update. Subscribers of the channel will have more than 500 bingeable episodes this September. New episodes will be made available immediately for all current series broadcast on FX Canada and FXX Canada. FX NOW will launch with American Crime Story, American Horror Story, The Americans, Atlanta, Baskets, Better Things, Feud, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Legion, Mayans MC, Pose, Snowfall, Taboo, and Trust. The streaming app will also offer some advance sneak peeks before the TV broadcast.
