As DAYS fans on Twitter have known for months (thanks to @Dimera87), Soap Opera Digest is confirming Matthew Ashford will be returning to Days of our Lives as Jack Deveraux. Ashford was written out in 2012 when Jack perished in an elevator crash and then made a ghostly appearance last December. The actor tells the magazine of his permanent return to the NBC soap: “If I could have written a way for Jack and myself to come back to DAYS, I couldn’t have done it better myself. Plus working with such wonderful actors at the top of their games like Kassie (DePaiva, Eve), Missy (Reeves, Jennifer), Mary Beth (Evans, Kayla), and so many more — a dream come true.”

Ashford has played Jack on and off since 1987 and has also appeared on One Life to Live, Search for Tomorrow, and General Hospital.

Soap Opera Digest also reports that Chrishell Hartley is on her way back to DAYS as Jordan Ridgeway in early 2019. “They wrote this really fun story for me which I am so excited about,” says Hartley in the mag. The character of Jordan was written out of the soap in March 2015.

This week on Days of our Lives: Victor (John Aniston) decides to keep Eve’s (Kassie DePaiva) secret from Brady (Eric Martsolf) but wants something in return on Monday (August 6). Steve (Stephen Nichols) is thrown when he overhears a private conversation between Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) confides to Eric (Greg Vaughan) that she has concerns about her relationship with Lucas (Bryan Dattilo). Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey) are blackmailed over their part in Leo’s death.

Abigail (Marci Miller) and Chad (Billy Flynn) feel the baby kick for the first time on Tuesday (August 7). Stefan (Tyler Christopher) opens up to Chloe about his attachment to Abigail’s child. Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) asks Marlena (Deidre Hall) to hypnotize him to prove his innocence. Tripp (Lucas Adams) tries to convince Ciara (Victoria Konefal) it had to be Ben who set the fire.

On Wednesday (August 8), Stefan tells Abigail that he wants to be part of his child’s life. In a vulnerable moment, Eli (Lamon Archey) kisses Lani (Sal Stowers). Ben tells Ciara he remembers everything that happened the night of the fire. Hope (Kristian Alfonso) tries to get Marlena to recommend that Ben be recommitted.

Chad walks out on Abigail on Thursday (August 9). Marlena and Kayla make preparations of Marlena and John’s (Drake Hogestyn) wedding. John advises Steve to confront Kayla about the secret she’s keeping. Hope gives Ben an ultimatum.

Gabi (Camila Banus) manipulates her way to living under the same roof as Chad on Friday (August 10). Ciara urges Ben to stay in Salem. Marlena is upset when John sees her in her wedding dress.

Here’s what’s coming up in Salem during the week of August 13:

  • Kate (Lauren Koslow) has a dream involving Andre.
  • Will exposes Ted’s (Gilles Marini) scheme to a stunned Kate.
  • Jennifer is tempted to confess all to Eric.
  • Paul (Christopher Sean) confronts Will over his lies.
  • Tripp is furious when Ciara invites Ben to move into the loft.
  • Steve has a surprise for Adrienne (Judi Evans).
