MTV announced a revival of The Hills during Monday (August 20) night’s MTV Video Music Awards after some of the original cast members — Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado, Stephanie Pratt and Justin Bobby (aka Justin Brescia) — reunited on the red carpet.

The Hills: New Beginnings will reunite the show’s original cast members, “alongside their children, friends and returning favourites, and follow their personal and professional lives while living in Los Angeles,” according to People magazine exclusive.

A 30-second trailer aired during a commercial break for MTV’s annual award show which featured an acoustic version of the Natasha Bedingfield theme, with a voiceover by Stephanie Pratt saying “It’s like we’re all growing up. It’s weird.”

A spin-off of Laguna Beach, The Hills ran for six seasons from 2006 and 2013 and was originally narrated by Lauren Conrad and later Kristin Cavallari. A third season, The City, followed original cast member Whitney Port in New York City for two seasons.

A reunion special, The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now, aired in August 2016. MTV also revived Jersey Shore for a sequel series, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, earlier this year and will premiere its second season on August 23.

No official cast list for the revival has been announced — including if Conrad or Cavallari will return. The Hills: New Beginnings is expected to premiere on MTV in 2019.
