Peggy McCay, who portrayed Brady family matriarch Caroline, passed away on October 7 at the age of 90.

McCay’s cousin, Denise Kiel Smith, released the following statement: “Peggy passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on Sunday morning at 1 a.m. She always appreciated you, her loyal fans, for all of the love and support that you gave her through the years. Peggy enjoyed a lifelong career of acting in television and movies. She loved with at Days of our Lives nearly to the end. Acting and animal rescue were her passions in life. Frank Parker, who portrayed Caroline’s husband Shawn Brady, passed away on September 16. McCay also appeared on General Hospital. The actress was nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards, and won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1991 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for The Trials of Rosie O’Neill.

McCay first appeared as DAYS’ Caroline Brady in 1983 and last appeared on August 24, 2016. It was recently mentioned on screen that Caroline has been with her daughter Kimberly in Los Angeles.

This week on Days of our Lives: Mimi (Farah Fath) pleads with Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) to convince Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) to reconsider his custody battle for baby Bonnie on Monday (October 15). Eric (Greg Vaughan), Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Sami (Alison Sweeney) realize they are on the same track and agree to team up. The mystery patient calls out a familiar name… Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) is furious when Brady (Eric Martsolf) admits he’s been playing her.

On Tuesday (October 16), Gabi (Camila Banus) advises Chad (Billy Flynn) to have Abigail (Marci Miller) committed. Abigail confides to JJ (Casey Moss) she thinks Gabi set her up. Ciara (Victoria Konefal) has an unbidden romantic dream of Ben (Robert Scott Wilson). Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) suggests to Ben they join forces to break up Tripp (Lucas Adams) and Ciara.

Gabi takes her plan to another level on Wednesday (October 17). Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) warns Stefan (Tyler Christopher) to stay away from Abigail. Hope (Kristian Alfonso) shares with Rafe (Galen Gering) her theory about the planted evidence. Ciara and Tripp are thrown when they come upon Claire and Ben conspiring. 

On Thursday (October 18), Gabi tries to make Chad believe the Abigail has turned violent. Stefan tells Abigail he’s certain Gabby is back. Sami and Eric break into Xander’s (Paul Telfer) warehouse. Nicole prepares for her future with Eric.

Belle (Martha Madison) is caught in the middle between Mimi and Chloe on Friday (October 19). Rex Brady (played by Kyle Lowder) returns to Salem! Sami accuses Brady of being in cahoots with Kristen. Nicole escapes from Xander… and unknowingly stumbles upon an earth-shattering secret.
