Four new stand-alone short stories, Star Trek: Short Treks, will debut on Thursday, Oct. 4, to tie fans of Star Trek: Discovery over until the second season of the breakout hit launches in early 2019.

Each of the four shorts will run 10-15 minutes and will give fans a deeper dive into the themes and characters that fit into the expanding Star Trek: Discovery universe. Stories will centre on a key character in each episode: Mary Wiseman’s Tilly, Doug Jones’ Saru, and Rain Wilson’s Harry Mudd. We’ll also meet a new character, named Craft, who is played by Aldis Hodge (Hidden Figures).

The mini-episodes will debut monthly, beginning Thursday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. ET on Space in Canada, and later stream on Space.ca and CraveTV the following day at 9 p.m. ET. Bell Media will also stream the installments on SnackableTV, following their launch on Space and CraveTV. In the U.S., each installment will debut on CBS All Access (also beginning Oct. 4).
