Corus Entertainment has announced that they’ll be launching the first-ever 24-hour Adult Swim channel in Canada on April 1, 2019.
Based on the iconic programming Cartoon Network programming block, Adult Swim promises to “engage viewers around-the-clock through its bold and irreverent voice and diverse slate of new and returning animated comedies and live-action programming.” The new channel will feature original series like Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, Tim & Eric’s Bedtime Stories, and The Eric Andre Show. The Canadian specialty network will also feature reruns of popular animated series Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and American Dad.
In the U.S., the Adult Swim programming block airs nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the Warner-owned Cartoon Network. Corus will the Action specialty channel on April 1. Adult Swim programming blocks that previously aired on the Cartoon Network and TELETOON (at Night) will move over to the new channel. Family-friendly content will now occupy those two networks 24/7.
Upcoming series Lazor Wulf will launch day and date with the U.S. on Adult Swim. The 15-minute series is about “finding the inner strength to buy your own cereal, not dying, and the art of the same.”
Beginning April 1 until May 31, Adult Swim will be available for nation-wide two-month free preview. Viewers will also be able to watch full episodes on demand through their cable providers for free until January 2020. Fans can also check out content on adultswim.ca.
