Satirical comedic drama The Great, premieres this Saturday, May 16 on Amazon Prime Video in Canada, and follows the rise of Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning) from outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia’s history – “incorporating historical facts occasionally. Starring alongside Fanning are Nicholas Hoult and Sacha Dhawan. The Great comes from The Favourite’s Tony McNamara. The 10-episode mini-series premieres in the U.S. on May 15 on Hulu.
Greg Daniels’ (The Office, Parks and Recreation) Upload is now streaming and stars Robbie Amell. Set in a technologically advanced future, humans can choose to be “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife when they find themselves near-death.
Shia LaBeouf’s Honey Boy, is also now streaming. In the film is about a young actor’s stormy childhood and early adult years as he struggles to reconcile with his father and deal with his mental health.
Four-part docuseries, The Last Narc, premieres on Friday, May 15, and centers on the most notorious murders in the history of the DEA, the 1985 kidnapping and murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
The second season of Homecoming premieres on Friday, May 22. Janelle Monáe’s character wakes up in a rowboat adrift on a lake with no memory of how she got there – or even who she is. Her ensuing identity will lead her into the heart of the Geist Group, the unconventional wellness company behind the Homecoming Initiative.
