The Bold and the Beautiful was the first scripted series in the U.S. to resume production at the end of June, following the months-long COVID-19 imposed shutdown.
“We feel almost like television pioneers all these years later because we’re the first ones out, blazing new ways of producing shows with the current safety standards, we’re getting the job done. It’s very exciting,” said executive producer Bradley Bell to the Associated Press as he detailed creative methods to incorporate intimacy on the soap by using the real-life partners and dolls.

Bell also revealed that scripts that were written pre-pandemic were reviewed in preparation for the “new normal” of production, including how Karina Bowden’s (Flo) husband, musician Ben Jorgensen, filled in for a big embrace and kiss after Wyatt (Darin Brooks) rescues Flo following being kidnapped and chained to a radiator (click here for the full interview).
While B&B has resumed production, sister-soap The Young and the Restless is expected to resume production this Tuesday (July 14) while Days of our Lives cast members will report back to set on September 1. No word yet when General Hospital will resume production.
In B&B casting news, the soap has announced that daytime newcomer Delon de Metz (pictured on top of the page) has been tapped as the new Zende Forrester Dominguez. Emmy winner Rome Flynn portrayed the role from 2015 through 2017, while child actor Daniel E. Smith was in the role from 2001 through 2002.
Tanner Novlan will debut in the new role of Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan,” a new love interest for Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s Steffy. Stay tuned to The TV Watercooler for first airdates for both de Metz and Novlan.
