Recent BBC One comedy The Other One will make its Canadian and U.S. debut on August 10 on Acorn TV.
When her father dies unexpectedly at his surprise birthday party, Cathy (Ellie White, The Windsors) finds out that her father has a secret family and gets to know her newfound sister, Cat (Lauren Socha, Misfits) – yes, their father named both his daughters Catherine.
The Other One also stars Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey) as Cat’s mum, the eccentric Marilyn, while Rebecca Front (Humans) plays Cathy’s mum, a more reserved Tess. Amit Shah (Hospital People) plays Cat’s fiancé Marcus.
All seven episodes from The Other One’s first season will begin streaming on Monday, August 10 on Acorn in Canada and the U.S. The series will also be available in Latin America beginning August 13. The Guardian gives the comedy four stars, calling it a “show with a loving heart,” which also remains “witty.”
