Canadian actor Cameron Mathison is headed back to ABC daytime.

10 years following the cancellation of All My Children, Mathison – who portrayed Ryan Lavery for 14 years – is headed to General Hospital, per Deadline.

Mathison’s Hallmark Channel series Home and Family will conclude it’s run this August. The Sarnia, Ontario native began co-hosting the series back in 2018.

The TV Watercooler had the opportunity to chat with Mathison back in 2015 before the premiere of W Network’s Game of Homes (where he served as host for the first season) about a potential return to daytime soaps, “The Young and the Restless talked to me a bit about the role of Adam Newman [which eventually went to Justin Hartley] but then word got out online and there was a big hoopla. I didn’t even audition, there were just talks. I liked thar role, so I was considering it but not after it leaked. I didn’t want to touch it.”

We also discussed his possibility of joining GH as his former AMC leading leading Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee) had just joined as Hayden Barnes as well as Ryan Lavery’s tie to fan-favourite GH character Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), “I would love the Lavery tie-in, but it would get messy [ABC and Prospect Park were disputing over the rights to All My Children and One Life to Live at the time]. I would have to see what the character was. It’s been a long time and I’ve made moves in other directions in my life and career. It would have to be either recurring or a really good character. I thought Adam on Y&R would have been a good challenge.”

No word yet on when Mathison makes his Port Charles debut or who he’ll be playing.

Last May, Mathison took part in Entertainment Weekly’s #UnitedAtHome series along with some of his former All My Children co-stars. Pine Valley, An All My Children sequel series I currently in development at ABC with Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo).
