Daytime soap favourites Linda Dano (Another World), Jen Lilley (Days of our Lives), and Ryan Peavey (General Hospital) star in the new Hallmark Channel film A Little Daytime Drama, premiering this Saturday, August 21 on W Network at 9 p.m. ET in Canada.

Dano, who in addition to playing Felicia Gallant on Another World has also appeared as Rae Cummings on One Life to Live and most recently as Vivian Alamain on Days of our Lives, portrays Alice, the creator and producer of a daytime soap opera who wants to retire and hopes she can pass on the baton to her protégé, Maggie.

Maggie, played by Lilley (ex-Thresa, DAYS; ex-Maxie, General Hospital), is also the head writer of the series whose declining ratings are in danger of it being cancelled and looks to bring back a former star, Darin, played by Ryan Peavey (ex-Nathan, GH) – who also happens to be Maggie’s ex-boyfriend!

Lilley encourages soap fans to tune in, telling Monsters & Critics,“Soaps have been such a nostalgic experience for generations,” and that they’d appreciate the movie, “if they have any appreciation for soap operas or Hallmark, they’re not going to want to miss this one. This movie is really romantic but it’s also extremely funny and it plays homage to soaps.”

Meanwhile, Dano noted that working on this project was “like going home,” as she previously appeared alongside Alison Sweeney (Days of our Lives) in 2019’s The Chronicle Mysteries: Vines That Bind. She shared with MediaVillage that “There’s a kindness and generosity among the people and the stories [at the Hallmark Channel] are always so sweet. I have it on during the day. I knew Ryan and Jen not only from daytime but also from Hallmark. Now I’m in the family, and I would do this again in a heartbeat.”

A Little Daytime Drama airs Saturday, August 21 at 9 p.m. ET on W Network as part of “Summer Nights” and will then be available to stream on the Global TV app and STACKTV.
