CBC’s new original comedy series Son of a Critch, premieres this Tuesday, January 4 at 8:30 p.m. (9 p.m. NT) on CBC and CBC Gem.

Based on comedian Mark Critch’s (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) award-winning memoir of the same name, the 13-episode half hour series tells the hilarious – and very real – story of an 11-year-old Mark coming of age in St. John’s, Newfoundland in the 1980s.

Son of a Critch stars Critch as his own father, Mike, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) stars as young Mark. Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) also stars as Pop, while Claire Rankin (Molly’s Game) is Mark’s mother, Mary; Colton Gobbo appears as Mike Jr.; while Sophia Powers and Mark Rivera star as Mark’s classmates, Ritche and Fox.

The series is created by Critch and Tim McAuliffe (The Office, Last Man on Earth and MacGruber) and is produced by Andrew Barnsley (Schitt’s Creek).

Son of A Critch airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBC and CBC Gem.
