BritBox to Stream The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Live on May 15

BritBox has announced that The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration will be streamed live at 3:30 p.m. ET in Canada. The event will be hosted by Philip Schofield and Julie Etchingham.

Update May 13: For those unable to watch live, BritBox will continue to loop the special and then will provide on-demand access for a year.

Taking part in the tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable 70 years of service will include Dame Helen Mirren, who will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth I while Tom Cruise, Damian Lewis, Adjoa Andoh, and Alan Tichmarsh will oversee four acts of events that will be part of a “theatrical arena” which will include 1,300 performers and 500 horses.

A 75-piece orchestra comprised of Tri-Service personnel and augmented with members of the National Symphony Orchestra will provide music, along with special performances by Keala Settle, Gregory Porter, and Katherine Jenkins.

Omid Djalili will play a character called “The Herald,” while will introduce a cast of “Queen’s Players.”

The Herald will whisk viewers through time and linking acts together. Each act will reflect on key moments in history, including Elizabeth I’s Tilbury Speech and James I and the Gunpowder Plot. The Commonwealth will also be celebrated, as well as the four nations within the United Kingdom.

Performers for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration also include Adjoa Andoh, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ant & Dec, Dame Joan Collins, Sir Mo Farah, Dame Maureen Lipman, Sir David Jason, Dame Kelly Holmes, Moira Stuart, and Sir Trevor McDonald.

The military and equestrian displays from around the world include Azerbaijan, Canada, India, Oman, France, Norway, Switzerland, and Trinidad & Tobago.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration arena event takes place in front of a live audience over the course of four evenings, May 12 through 15, with royal attendance each night. Sunday’s live event is broadcast live from the private grounds of Windsor Castle.
