Magalopolis

In Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, the city of New Rome is the main conflict between Cesar Catilina – a brilliant artist in favour of a utopian future – and the greedy mayor Franklyn Cicero. Between them is Julia Cicero, her loyalty divided between her father and her beloved. Stars Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, and Nathalie Emmanuel. Screened earlier this month at TIFF. Magalopolis hits theatres on Friday, September 27.

The Wild Robot

After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot called Roz is stranded on an uninhabited island. To survive the harsh environment, Roz bonds with the island’s animals and cares for an orphaned baby goose. Chris Sanders’ animated film premiered earlier this month at TIFF and its voice cast includes Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor. The Wild Robot hits theatres on Friday, September 27.

Wolfs

In Jon WattsWolfs, two rival fixers cross paths when they’re both called in to help cover up a prominent New York official’s misstep. Over one explosive night, they’ll have to set aside their petty grievances and their egos to finish the job. Stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan, and Austin Abrams. Wolfs begins streaming on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 27.

My Old Ass

A mushroom trip brings free-spirited Elliott face-to-face with her 39-year-old self. But when Elliott’s “old ass” delivers warnings to her younger self, Elliott realizes she has to rethink everything about her family, life and love. The film stars Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza. My Old Ass opens in theatres across Canada on Friday, September 27.

Killer Heat

Twin brothers find themselves in a dangerous love triangle on an isolated Greek Island. Stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Madden. Killer Heat begins streaming on Prime Video this Friday, September 27.

Will & Harper

Will & Harper is an intimate portrayal of friendship, transition, and America as Will Ferrell and his close friend of thirty years, Harper Steele, decide to go on a cross-country road trip to explore a new chapter in their relationship. The doc was screened earlier this month at TIFF and begins streaming on Netflix this Friday, September 27.

Apartment 7A

In this prequel to Rosemary’s Baby, a struggling dancer finds herself drawn into dark forces by a peculiar couple promising her fame. Apartment 7A stars Julia Garner, Dianne Wiest, and Jim Sturgess and begins streaming on Paramount+ this Friday, September 27.
