Big Brother Exit Interview: Lyric Medeiros
Following a dramatic blindside during the fourth eviction episode of Big Brother 28, Lyric Medeiros – a 25-year-old attorney from Honolulu, Hawaii – became the latest houseguest to be evicted. After losing her closest allies in back-to-back weeks, Lyric attempted to pivot her strategy and build trust across the aisle but ultimately fell victim to the shifting house dynamics.
Following her departure, media outlets caught up with Lyric in the press pool to talk about her budding showmance with Rome, her gameplay decision, and who she’s rooting for to take home the grand prize. Here are the key highlights from Lyric’s exit interview.
On Her Romance with Rome
The biggest takeaway from Lyric’s time in the house was her relationship with fellow houseguest Rome Seymour. Despite the game ending for both of them, Lyric revealed that their connection is very much alive on the outside.
“The minute that I got my phone, there was a beautiful message waiting for me. A lot of people can expect to see on social media the updates, because Rome and I are still so madly in love and we FaceTime every second of the day… I’m so grateful that I have him and that I got him out of the experience.”
When asked about their official post-show plans, Lyric teased upcoming content and her dream destination: “Just be prepared in the next two weeks to maybe see some content from me with Rome… I’m hoping our first date is a walk on the beach in Hawaii.”
Zero Regrets & Playing Every Side
Despite facing criticism for offering up names like Mallory and Melody to gain leverage with Chuk, Kamu, and then-HoH Haley, Lyric stands by her tactical maneuvers.
“No regrets in the game. I think every single move I made for a reason in that moment… My real loyalty, of course, liked with the people that I originally started with. However, I needed to pivot because my two allies, my two closest people in this house, they left. I knew I needed to pivot and rely on people who could win competitions and keep me safe.”
Lyric explained that confirming information was necessary to establish trust: “In this game, you have to give some sort of information to build trust… You have to give a little to get something back.”
Targeting the Majority & Exposing the Alliance
Had she won the BB Blockbuster and stayed to with Head of Household, Lyric had her targets set directly on the house power players.
· Targeting Power Players: “I definitely would have put up Devens and Angela in a heartbeat… I would say, ‘You guys have been cruising the last four weeks. It’s time that the power shifts in this house, welcome to the block.’”
· Keeping Quiet on the 8-Person Group: Addressing why she didn’t expose the group of eight that she, Rome, and Jason saw coming out of the HoH room, Lyric noted it would have put an immediate target on her back: “All eight of those people would come for me because they would see me as someone who exposed their alliance. So, I didn’t think that was a smart move.”
Most Overrated vs. Underrated Players
Reflecting on her fellow houseguests, Lyric didn’t hold back on who played the game with class versus who fell short.
“Overrated player in the game? I’d probably say… Angela was not very truthful with me… On the eviction nights of Rome and Jason, my two closest allies, she smirked at me… and I was like, girl that is not nice. But it’s okay, I understand it’s a game.”
As for her favourite to win? Lyric is firmly on Team Yosh: “Most underrated player is Yosh. We hope he takes it to the end… He put himself in such a great position at this point in the game, and we’re just hoping that he takes the money and goes to first place because he is such a class act.”
