Big Brother Exit Interview: Rome Seymour
The latest houseguest evicted from Big Brother 28 is Rome Seymour, a 28-year-old pickleball coach originally from Traverse City, Michigan, and currently residing in Delray Beach, Florida.
Following his exit, Rome participated in a press pool to talk about the downfall of his game, his showmance with Lyric, and whether the so-called “Roman Empire” was real or blown out of proportion. Here are the key highlights from his exit interview.
On the “Roman Empire” and Angela’s Paranoia
Rome clarified that his influence in the house was largely overestimated.
“Honestly, I think my influence in the house – the “Roman Empire” – was a little bit overstated. I had a big group of people… but we never had an alliance name. We were never the ‘Roman Empire.’ So, I think it was a little blown out of proportion. I will say I was going to help them the whole way… but overall, I think Angela got a little bit paranoid of the situation and blew it out of proportion.”
On His Showmance with Lyric
When asked if getting into a showmance put a target on his back, Rome noted that his social play had already made him a great threat – though he felt bad for now it affected his showmance partner, Lyric.
“I knew from the jump when I walked into that house that people were going to target me because I was going to be charismatic with people and create these stronger alliances… The showmance itself didn’t hurt me, but I think it hurt her.”
Looking ahead to Lyric’s solo game, Rome expressed full confidence in her ability to adapt and go far.
“She has that power to like ‘snake charm’ dudes. I think she’s going to do an awesome job if she keeps just that mentality of, ‘Hey, I’m going to stay down low, act like people need to protect me.’ But in all honesty, she’s cutthroat. She’s going to come from this game eventually.”
As for their relationship outside the house? Rome shared that he gave her his green hoodie to snuggle with on the live feeds and promised he’ll be saving a seat for her on the finale night: “No love lost for that vote. It was all game.”
What He Would Have Done Differently
Reflecting on his final days before he hit, Rome revealed what he would change if he could go back in time to his conversation with HOH Devens.
“I would have gone to him, and I just would have kept it a lot shorter. I would have said, ‘Hey man, I hope you’re still willing to stick to the plan we had, which is to keep me off the block.’… I would have kept it much shorter and much sweeter and not given him any names whatsoever.”
The Late-Night Turning Point
When asked about the moment that completely caught him off guard, Rome pointed to a surreal 4:30 a.m. sequence where the opposite side made their move clear.
“I watched seven people in a single-file line walk down the stairs, heads down, heading back to their beds at 4:30 in the morning, with the sole intention of knowing they’re here to blow up my game. Not only was it somewhat comical to watch, it was also just kind of intense seeing that… the gauntlet is thrown.”
