Director: Nick Hamm
TIFF Presentation: Gala Presentation
Country: Italy, United Kingdom
Year: 2024
Runtime: 133 minutes
Language: English
Cast: Claes Bang, Jonathan Pryce, Golshifteh Farhani, Rafe Spall, Ben Kingsley

The Deal: Based on the legendary 14th-century Swiss folk hero where a peaceful and skilled archer, William Tell (Bang), is disrupted by the oppressive rule of the Austrian King.

The film proves that one person can make a difference by standing up to tyranny and inspiring others to fight for freedom and the value of unity.

William Tell is a reminder of the sacrifices people have made throughout history to defend their liberties. Definitely potential for a franchise set-up or at least a sequel.

Watch This If: Need some hope for a better future. Great action scenes. Offers a different type of role of Bang, who we are used to seeing as the villain in Bad Sisters and Dracula – as well as Rafe Spall from Trying.

Rating: ★★★★
