After being on the air for over 43 years, The Young and the Restless is set to celebrate its 11,000th episode in the coming weeks.
There will be plenty of drama leading up to the big day, which will air on Wednesday, August 31 in Canada on Global – it’ll air on September 1 in the U.S. on CBS.
Per CBS, Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) life spirals out of control when her secret affair with her bother-in-law Billy (Jason Thompson) is discovered, while Summer’s (Hunter King) family pulls out all the stops to get Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva) out of her life once and for all.
Michael Graziadei will return to the soap as Daniel Romalotti for four episodes. The actor was last seen in July 2013 when he helped usher Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford) out of town to a medical facility in Georgia after she fell into a coma. Fans can also expect to see Tristan Rogers, who’ll be doing double duty as Y&R’s Colin and General Hospital’s Robert in the coming months.
On July 26, it was announced that Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) will begin a two-episode arc as Lucinda, who has an emotional connection to a main Genoa City resident.
Y&R co-creator Lee Phillip Bell will make a cameo in scenes with daughter Lauralee Bell (Cricket) and Doug Davidson (Paul).
The #11K episode is executive producer Mal Young’s (EastEnders) first major event since taking over the duties earlier this summer.
