While Queen Sugar is set to debut it’s second season in a two-night event on OWN across the U.S. tonight (June 20) and tomorrow (June 21), the series will premiere on Monday, July 3 at 9 p.m. ET in Canada on Bravo.

Produced by Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey and Monica Macer and based on the book by Natalie Baszile, Queen Sugar’s second season will see Nova (Rutina Wesley), Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) struggle to move forward with their lives as they strive to honour the legacy of their father after his unexpected passing. Look for Charley to be blindsided during her final divorce mediation with Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett) — how will it impact her relationship with Remy (Dondre Whitfield)?

Meanwhile, Nova deals with the loss of her relationship with Calvin (Greg Vaughan). Ralph Angel tries to find footing on the family farm, especially following the discovery he made in the season finale with his father’s letter. Look for Ralph Angel to also re-establish his relationship with Blue’s (Ethan Hutchison) mother, Darla (Bianca Lawson).

Also early in season two, Aunt Violet (Tina Lifford) must confront her feelings for Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey), and Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) ends up having a dangerous encounter with a police officer.

Like its first season, the second season of Queen Sugar will feature a slate of female directors including Kat Candler, DeMane Davis, Cheryl Dunye, Aurora Guerrero and Amanda Marsalis.
