Weeds’ Canadian premiere set, Lorre to kill Charlie, ABC doesn’t want to sell cancelled soaps and more

— I’ve got some good news for Canadian Weeds fans who’d prefer to save some bandwidth (but you’ll be a week behind). The series, which premiered its seventh season last night on Showtime, will return to Canada next Wednesday, July 6th at 10 p.m. on Showcase. Check out Vulture’s interview with Justin Kirk on some great Uncle Andy moments and what he thinks about viewer backlash here.  Michelle Trachtenberg will guest star on two episodes later this season as a “low-level pot dealing rival” of Nancy’s (Mary Louise Parker). I’ll bet you a dime that Silas beds her.

Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino will headline the new Law & Order: SVU.

Martin Short will appear on How I Met Your Mother next season.

Chuck Lorre might actually kill off Charlie Sheen’s character when Two and A Half Men returns in September. Meanwhile, Charlie has landed a new sitcom deal with Lionsgate which could end up on TBS.

One Life to Live’s Trevor St. John has revealed that he offered to stick around once his contract ends later this summer, but producers have told him he’s free to leave. I guess that makes Roger Howarth’s Todd the real deal?

Erin Torpey will return to OLTL for one final appearance. Torpey played the role of Jessica from 1990-2003 and made an appearance in 2008 as Megan. Bree Williamson is currently playing the role of Jessica and all her alters.

— ABC continues to piss off soap fans as the network has declined offers to purchase the cancelled All My Children and One Life to Live.

Days of our Lives has decided to keep Bren Foster’s Quinn around.

Jessica Collins (ex-Dinah Lee, Loving) will appear on The Young and the Restless beginning July 26th as attorney Avery Clark who will defend Sharon.

— The rumors are true, General Hospital is looking to recast the role of Kate Howard…sucks for the Megan Ward fans.

Carol Burnett will return to All My Children before the finale. Burnett first appeared on AMC in 1983 as Verla Grubbs.

— Here are some of my favourite highlights from Glastonbury 2011:

Unfortunately Showcase has stopped showing Weeds mid-season and has replaced it with Royal Pains.
