The TV Watercooler

A look at tonight’s Gossip Girl, Jimmy Fallon’s new album, Smallville to continue online and more

Jimmy Fallon will release a new comedy album next summer.

— The CW is getting back into the comedy business and are developing a new series which will star and be produced/written by Sara Rue. In Poseur, Rue’s character Lucy, marries her best friend Alexandra in order to continue living her fancy New York apartment which doesn’t allow for any roommates.

Smallville might continue as a novel.

— What was supposed to be Bones‘ midseason finale is now being pushed to January 12, where it will lead into spinoff, The Finder.

— Former All My Children star Chrishell Stause teases that the original ending the soap had planned before the Prospect Park mess is out there somewhere. Stause guest stars on tonight’s Body of Proof.

— Meanwhile, another AMC cast member will join the cast of Single Ladies‘ second season, replacing Stacey Dash. I still think they should have kept Dash over McCoy.

My picks for tonight:

On Gossip Girl (8 p.m. on The CW and MuchMusic): Lily (Kelly Rutherford) throws “ChIvy” (Kaylee DeFer) a party to officially introduce her to New York society. Meanwhile, Max (Brian J. Smith) throws a wrench into Charlie’s future as an Upper East Side princess. Dan (Penn Badgley) decides it may be time to tell Blair (Leighton Meester) the truth about his feelings for her.

On How I Met Your Mother (8 p.m. on CBS): Robin (Cobie Smulders) receives bad news and lies about it to the gang. Marshall (Jason Segel) hangs Christmas decorations on the house in the suburbs with the help from his neighbours.

On 2 Broke Girls (8:30 p.m. on CBS): Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs) try to find Chestnut a job in order to get him shelter for the winter. Meanwhile, Peach (Brooke Lyons) auditions for “Real Housewives of TriBeCa.”

Over in late night: Jonah Hill is on Letterman; Robert Downey Jr. is on Leno; Christina Applegate is on Kimmel; Steve Martin and Emily VanCamp are on Fallon; Casey Wilson is on Chelsea; Alec Baldwin and Damon Wayans are on Conan. For more listings, click here.
