Andy Herren, the 26-year-old college professor from Chicago, Il. won the 15th edition of Big Brotherin Wednesday evening’s special 90-minute finale.

The jury comprising of nine former houseguests were left to vote between Herren and runner-up, GinaMarie Zimmerman, the 32-year-old from Staten Island following the eviction of Spencer Clawson early on in the episode. 7 jury members voted for Herren (Candice, Jessie, Helen, Amanda, Elissa, Spencer and McCrae) while two members voted for Zimmerman (Aaryn and Judd).

Herren heads back to Chicago with a grand prize of $500,000 while Zimmerman is awarded $50,000. A third prize, consisting of $25,000 was voted by the fans of the reality series and was awarded to Elissa Slater.

This marks the end of a controversial season for the reality hit as many cast members came under fire for racist, homophobic and sexist remarks. While CBS has renewed the summer staple for a sixteenth season, Canadian fans will be able to get their fix a bit sooner as the second season of Big Brother Canada is set to premiere this winter on Slice.
