— Sunday night’s episode of HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver gave Days of our Lives fan a big surprise: an EJami reunion! The surprise was for one fan in particular, 16-year-old Syrian refugee Nageen Mustafa who was interviewed by news outlets last week discussing her escape from Kobani, the war-torn Syrian town to the Serbian border with Hungary.
Nagged, who is bound to a wheelchair, discussed her harrowing ordeal and her love for the American soap opera Days of our Lives, particular the super couple Sami and EJ, who were played by Alison Sweeney and James Scott (until last year). Nageen, who learned English from he show, shared her biggest complaint of the series, that they killed off EJ, who was her favourite character. Oliver went on to detail Sami & EJ’s sordid history — including details that even I have forgotten after all these years! Yes, he even referenced EJ’s affair with “that trollop Abigail Devereaux” and was gunned-down by Clyde of all people!
The host then introduced a new scene taped especially for the HBO program and DAYS fan Nageen which featured EJ returning from the dead and surprising Sami. “My sister made sure I survived the morgue, ands he flew me to Germany where my father’s witch doctors did their work,” explained EJ to a happy Sami. “Coming back from he dead, that’s not hard. You know what’s hard, getting from Syria to Germany.” Sami then asked, “Have you see what those migrants are going through?”
Pretty epic that HBO was able to give Sami & EJ fans the happy ending they’ve been clamouring for for over a year.
