With summer here, many are taking the opportunity to binge some new shows that they may not have had the chance to watch during the regular television season… But that usually requires WiFi. What if you want to binge something during your downtime at the cottage or beach but don’t have unlimited data or wifi? I’d pick The X-Files’ event series from earlier this year. Yes, even if you’ve seen it again, the special features are definitely worth checking out. After all, many thought six episodes weren’t enough.
The 10th season Blu-ray and DVD is packed with special features included deleted scenes and extended scenes for all six episodes as well as an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the event series as well as a recap of the “Wildest and Scariest” monsters of the week from the show’s original 1993-2002 run as well as the event series.
There’s also special commentary on three episodes. Chris Carter and (writer/director) James Wong give us an inside look “Founder’s Mutation,” where Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigate a secret mutation experiment following the suicide of a DOD scientist. Duchovny, Anderson, Kumail Nanjiani and Darin Morgan over insight to “Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster,” which was already-iconic episode which contained many inside jokes for faithful fans. Carter and co-producer Gabe Rotter for the final instalment.
While Fox has yet to announce plans for another event series or season, they definitely tons for fans to dive into — especially after that ending.
The X-Files event series is now available via 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Check out some bonus scenes below and photos below.
