Stephen Nichols has confirmed his departure from Days of our Lives in a new Instagram post. Daytime Confidential reports that contract negotiations between Nichols and the show broke down over money. Nichols apparently wrapped filming in March, which means that Steve “Patch” Johnson will air through September. The actor does remain hopeful for a comeback, “…there are still years of Steve and Kayla’s story left to be told. I hope we get to tell that story.”
While Eileen Davidson is set to exit The Young and the Restless, don’t expect her to reprise her roles (Kristen, Susan, et al.) on Days of our Lives (anytime soon). Earlier this year, the NBC soap cast Stacy Haiduk (ex-Patty/Emily, Y&R) to take on at least one of Davidson’s former DAYS characters.
This week on Days of our Lives: Leo (Greg Rikaart) offers Sonny (Freddie Smith) a chance to make the lawsuit disappear on Monday (July 2). Will (Chandler Massey) and Leo have a physical altercation. Gabi (Camila Banus) is intrigued when she spies Kate (Lauren Koslow) with Stefan (Tyler Christopher). Abigail (Marci Miller) carries out her plan to find out who the father of her baby is.
Leo’s dream of becoming Mr. Sonny Kiriakis is dealt with a major blow on Tuesday (July 3) — does Leo die? Will and Sonny work together to navigate a tricky situation. Abigail has a tense run-in with Stefan. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) opens up to Marlena (Deidre Hall) about her deal with Stefan. Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) catches Will in the act on Wednesday (July 4). Eve (Kassie DePaiva) brings a surprise witness to Tate’s custody hearing. Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) past comes back to haunt him at the hearing. J.J. (Casey Moss) visits Lani (Sal Stowers) as she mounts the loss of her baby.
On Thursday (July 5), Ciara (Victoria Konefal) is concerned as Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) becomes increasingly unglued without his medication. Hope (Kristian Alfonso) receives unsettling news about Ben. Eve is forced into a corner during Tate’s custody hearing. Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) talk about Nicole. Ciara tries to reason with a paranoid Ben, who begins hallucinating, on Friday (July 6). Tripp (Lucas Adams) pulls back from his kiss with Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan), who admits she’s starting to have feelings for him. Rafe (Galen Gering) and Hope question Clyde (James Read) about Ben. Brady is on the hot seat when he’s implicated in Deimos’ murder.
Here’s what’s coming up in Salem during the week of July 9:
- Ciara passes out as the fire spreads through the cabin.
- Theresa (Jen Lilley) feels guilty for sandbagging Brady, and J.J. suggests she find a middle ground with him.
- Gabi experiences excruciating pain and is rushed to the hospital.
- Abigail anxiously waits for the results of her paternity test.
- Stefan pressures Kate to deliver the goods.
- J.J. makes a stunning announcement at the hearing.
