Daytime Confidential broke the news earlier this week that Eileen Davidson has quit the role of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Sources revealed to DC that Sony’s “no raise” policy played a factor in the actress’ decision to spend more time with her family. Davidson is the second high profile exit from the CBS soap in recent weeks. Canadian actress Mishael Morgan announced her departure a couple of weeks ago after contract negations broke down. It’s a shame that Sony doesn’t seem to want to invest in new talent or established talent and keep their fan favourite performers and characters on the canvas.

Davidson confirmed her departure on Instagram, “Yes, I am leaving my second home (Y&R) in September. I have been so blessed to have been able to play Ashley Abbott and work with all my lovely and amazing friends on the show. I have so much love and gratitude for them all. Time for more control over my day to day!”

Those hoping that Davidson could pop up on fellow Sony soap, Days of our Lives, Stacy Haiduk had been cast in Davidson’s former DAYS role(s) earlier this year when presumably an arrangement for the actress to appear on both shows at the same time again didn’t work out. Davidson first debuted as Ashley Abbott on Y&R in 1982 and then appeared on DAYS on and off from 1993 until 2017. She has also appeared as Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara from 1991-93, The Bold and the Beautiful from 2007-08 and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from 2014-18.

Coming up this week on The Young and the Restless: Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) join forces on Monday (July 2). Hilary (Mishael Morgan) stumbles onto a secret. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) proposes a new alliance.

On Tuesday (July 3), Cane (Daniel Goddard) defends the Chancellor legacy, lol. Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) receives a cryptic message. Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Arturo (Jason Canela) set off fireworks.

Jack (Peter Bergman) resorts to extreme measures on Wednesday (July 4). Billy (Jason Thompson) takes a new gable. New information emerges about J.T.

Victor defends himself on Thursday (July 5). Ashley (Eileen Davidson) makes a power move. Danger finds Nikki and Sharon (Sharon Case).

Casting: Lil Nate is on his way back to Genoa City! Brooks Darnell (Shadowhunters) has been cast as Dr. Nate Hastings, Jr. and will make his debut on Monday, July 2 (Canadian airdate). Look for Nate to be secretly treating Victor (Eric Braeden) and stays with Neil (Kristoff St. John). Here’s hoping that Tonya Lee Williams makes a comeback as Nate’s mom, Olivia. Walter Fauntleroy was cast as an adult Nate back in 2011. Visit Entertainment Weekly for more.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on Global and CBS. Canadian viewers can catch up with Y&R on demand, on the Global Go app and online at GlobalTV.com.
